Buy More Shit!

Its the Christian’s fault. According to Lewis Black (during his show, don’t take this seriously) the Christians are to blame for our current economic crisis. Apparently, during the Christmas season, we (the Christians) didn’t buy enough crap. He, as a Jeeeoooo, can’t be held responsible (since when do you tie an economy to the purchase of socks and soup, he asks?). That glorius day, just 48 short hours ago, where the economy was rebounding, choirs of angels were singing and all was right with the world(nee, the American dollar), was apparently a fluke. Don’t look down, but some a-hole let the air out of our tires. From Bizjournals, mobile edition:

“Weak retail sales and ongoing concerns about economic growth sent stocks sharply lower Wednesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average falling nearly 8 percent.
The Commerce Department reported retail sales fell 1.2 percent in September, the third straight monthly decline.
The Federal Reserve’s monthly Beige Book report showed slowing economies in each of the central bank’s regional districts.
The S&P500 Index ended Wednesday’s session down 90 points, or more than 9 percent. The Dow Industrials declined 733 points, closing at 8578.
The Nasdaq Composite Index lost 151 points, or nearly 8-and-a-half percent.
Commodity prices also fell Wednesday. Oil declined after OPEC cut its forecast for 2009 demand, sending crude oil futures in New York down more than $4 per barrel to around $74, the lowest since September 2007.”
